TEHRAN -- MP Alaeddin Boroujerdi stated on Wednesday that naming women as ministers in the new cabinet is a reformation.

He said that some women had executive posts in the ninth government but naming women as ministers in the new cabinet is new move.
Talking in the city of Boroujerd in Lorestan province, he noted that while women include 50 percent of the country’s population appointing women ministers in three ministries is a considerable issue.
He went on to say that now more than 60 percent of students in universities are women and the issue shows the women’s capabilities in the society.
However, Boroujerdi said lawmakers will approve the nominees based on their qualifications and MPs will not be influenced by the gender of nominees.
If a woman has a scientific, executive, and strategic experience in managing a ministry, she can manage even the key ministries, the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee chairman explained.
He added that the Majlis believes there should be no limitation that qualified women to take up top posts
