“Prophet Joseph” TV series director Salahshur honored

TEHRAN -- The Director of the “Prophet Joseph” TV series, Farajollah Salahshur, was honored on Monday at the closing ceremony of the third session of the General Assembly of the Islamic Radio and Television Union.

Directed by Salahshur, the 45-episode series focuses on the life of the Prophet Joseph (AS) from his childhood to adulthood.
The assembly opened on Saturday along with the First Islamic Film Market here in Tehran and concluded on Monday evening after three days at the venue of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization.
Director of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) Ezzatollah Zarghami, director of the General Assembly of the Union Ali Karimian, directors of radio and television different channels and several Iranian and foreign cultural figures attended the ceremony.
Zarghami made the opening speech and said that the Quranic TV series of “Prophet Joseph” was warmly received in Iran, adding, “We need to produce films with a Quranic central theme and help emphasize our Islamic characteristics.
“We are seeing good documentary and animation productions coming out of countries like Iraq and Afghanistan. Islam has a tremendous potential to apply its teachings in different fields and we can help promote this process through our productions,” he remarked.
Karimian was next who said that different types of media are available these days to attract a great number of audiences, and that people are tired of lies and are searching for truth, and “We must try to inform them all about the truth.”
Filmmaker Salahshur whose TV series was selected as best TV production also spoke briefly after receiving his award and said, “The research work and writing the screenplay took almost four years, and all the team really worked hard in it. Producing Islamic movies requires an Islamic environment.”
Afterwards, the winners were announced in the different sections of radio productions, television productions, TV special productions, news and internet data base.
Radio Alforqan and Radio Albalad from Iraq, Radio Al-Iman from Palestine, Alkowsar and Sahar TV channels from Iran, Tamadon TV channel from Afghanistan, and Almanar TV from Lebanon were among the winners.
