Paykan finishes 4th in FIVB Club World Championship

DOHA - Iran’s Paykan volleyball team lost to Zenit Kazan of Russia in the bronze medal match of the 2009 Men’s Club World Championship on Sunday night.

In the match held at the Aspire Zone Indoor Hall in Doha, Qatar, in front of more than 2,000 spectators, the Iranian representative was defeated by Zenit Kazan 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-16) and finished the competition in fourth place.
Trentino BetClic of Italy overwhelmed PGE Skra Belchatow from Poland 3-0 (26-24, 25-18, 25-19) in the final match.
In the past five competitions Italian clubs have triumphed. Maxicono Parma won the crown in 1989, Massaggero Ravenna in 1991, Mediolanum Milano in 1990 and 1992, and after a 17 year interval, Trentino BetClic this year.
