TEHRAN -- An exhibition of stained glass works by veteran female artist Mahin Azima is underway at Tehran’s Shams Gallery.

The exhibit is arranged on the occasion of the artist’s 80th birthday for which a selection of 30 pieces of her artwork has been put on display.
The artist became interested in stained glass in 1969 and has made great efforts to revive this venerable art form in the modern style of paintings.
Azima is a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts from the University of Tehran. She continued her studies at Visva Bharati University in Santiniketan, India. She has also completed a course in stained glass artwork in the United States.
She received an honorary doctorate several years ago and so far has held several solo and group exhibits in different countries such as Belgium, France, Turkey and the United States.
Some of her works are preserved in Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, Iranology Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, and one is kept at the Indira Gandhi’s personal collection.
The exhibit will run through December 22 at the gallery located at No 12, Mehmankadeh Alley, Mehmandust St., in the Farmanieh neighborhood.
