Zagreb(AP) Opposition Social Democrat Ivo Josipovic has convincingly won Sunday's Croatian presidential election.

He has pledged to help the government's efforts to complete European Union membership talks and join the bloc in 2012.
Josipovic, a law expert and classical music composer, who is relatively inexperienced in top level politics, won 60.3 percent of the votes. He will be Croatia's third president since independence in 1991.
Populist Zagreb Mayor, Milan Bandic, captured 39.7 percent of the votes as an independent candidate.
Josipovic promised to back Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor's drive to implement reforms and fight widespread corruption, required by Brussels to wind up EU accession talks this year.
Ivo Josipovic, Croatian President-elect, said, "" Every citizen of this country is a winner tonight, because I strongly believe we all want a better Croatia with more justice.""
