TEHRAN – Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani strongly condemned Israel for reopening a synagogue in East Beit-ul-Moqaddas (East Jerusalem)and called for a coordinated stance by Muslim countries against the move.

In a telephone conversation with his Syrian and Ugandan counterparts on Wednesday, Larijani described the Zionist regime’s move as a disgrace to Muslims.
“The Islamic countries’ inaction on this act will embolden the occupiers of Al-Qods to wipe out the Islamic heritage in the Palestinian territories,” he said.
On Monday, Israel reopened the Hurva synagogue in East Jerusalem al-Quds near Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Syrian Parliament Speaker Mahmud al-Abrash and Ugandan Parliament Speaker Edward Ssekandi Kiwanuka also denounced the Zionist regime’s act and asked Islamic nations to take action against the issue.
The three officials called on the Islamic countries to hold and emergency inter-parliamentary meeting to discuss the prevention of such egregious acts in the future
