TEHRAN -- Veteran cinema and stage actor Reza Karamrezaii died of a heart attack here in a Tehran hospital on Saturday. He was 73.

The actor has been hospitalized since mid-March, his son told MNA.
Reza Karamrezaii was born in Kermanshah in 1937. He was a graduate of film and theater in Germany.
He had starred in several movies among which are “Physicists”, “Cottage of Parents”, “New Tenant”, “Narges”, “Passenger of Rey” and “Sting”.
He also acted in several plays including “Inspector” by director Ezzatollah Entezami, and “Aggressors” by Iraj Raad.
Actor Entezami regarded working with Karamrezaii as a great experience, saying he was a good actor.
“He had complete proficiency in the German language and translated several German plays into Persian. We visited him several times with friends while he was ill at home. It is a pity we lost him,” he said.
The managing director of Iran’s Theater Iraj Raad also called Karamrezaii a highly disciplined actor, saying, “he was serious about his career and was influential in the field of theater.
Stage director Behruz Gharibpur regarded the actor as one of the best in theater and said, “He played a great role in acting, directing, translating and writing plays.”
I praise his great efforts in the theatrical field. His death was a great loss for theater in Iran, he said.
