TEHRAN -- Actor Hamed Behdad says that Iranian cinema gains recognition in the international arena from filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami’s works.

“Kiarostami is one of the world’s greatest filmmakers and his participation in international events gains recognition for Iranian artists and in the end for Iranian art and culture,” Behdad told the Persian service of the Mehr News Agency on Friday.
Kiarostami plans to hire Behdad for his next film, “Father and Son”, which will be made in Iran.
“This is an opportunity that can give a new flavor to my acting career,” Behdad said.
“It is an especially sweet event to appear in a film by a world-renowned auteur. I’m honored by my upcoming collaboration with Kiarostami,” he added.
“It’s quite hard to say what it’s about because it does not have a narrative structure, but it’s from an idea that I’ve had for several years,” said Kiarostami, who declined to give more details about the film.
