Iranian girl fencer wins bronze in Asian championship

BANGKOK - Iran’s Najme Sazanchian claimed a bronze medal on Sunday in the Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championship 2011 which is underway in Bangkok, Thailand.

Sazanchian won the bronze medal in girl’s saber. Iran had not won any medal in this category in the past 37 years.
The Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championship started on March 4 and will finish on March 13. The event covers all six fencing disciplines in both the male and female sections of the Junior and Cadet categories. Both the individual and team events will also be conducted in the tournament.
Iran is taking part in the event with seven girl and 12 boy fencers
