TEHRAN - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has advised the administration and the Majlis to give high priority to the conservation of natural resources and protection of the environment.

The Leader made the remarks on Tuesday during a ceremony held in Tehran to commemorate National Natural Resources Week.
To have a good life, it is essential that people keep the environment clean, he said, adding that natural resources belong to all generations and people should try to conserve them.
Ayatollah Khamenei advised officials to make every effort to expand green spaces, prevent the destruction of forests and other natural resources, and conserve water resources.
He also told officials to take the measures necessary to prevent the expansion of Tehran’s urban sprawl and encroachments on public land and forests in the suburbs of the capital.
During the ceremony, the ground was broken for a major public park in southern Tehran, and the Leader planted two saplings at the site.
Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, Agricultural Jihad Minister Sadeq Khalilian, members of the Tehran City Council, and a number of MPs and administration officials attended the ceremony.
