TEHRAN – Iranian disabled athletes will travel to Dubai on Thursday to take part in the International Wheelchair and Amputee (IWAS) World Junior Games.

Last year, the IWAS World Junior Games were held in the Czech Republic and brought together 270 athletes from 23 countries participating in two sporting disciplines.
It is expected that in this competition 220 athletes from 23 countries will compete in three disciplines - athletics, weight lifting and table tennis. Iran will take part in the event with a total of 28 athletes.
“We are well-prepared for the games and anticipate winning at least 10 medals in the competitions. Iranian athletes will also make effort to qualify for the London 2012 Paralympics Games in the event,” Iran’s track and field coach Bahman Rezaei said.
