12-year-old close to disproving Einstein's Theory of Relativity
@T=Jacob Barnett is not your average 12-year-old. While most kids his age are rifling through messy lockers in middle school, he's walking the campus of Indiana University—Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) where he's been enrolled since the age of 8. Barnett is taking classes like astrophysics and working on a new scientific hypothesis based on Einstein's Theory of Relativity. And Barnett believes he's close to disproving Einstein's theory and replacing it with a new one. Experts at the world-renowned Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey are amazed by his calculations and say if he can solve some of the remaining problems he will certainly be in line for a Nobel Prize.
Barnett's parents knew he was something special when he was 3 and could put together 5,000 piece puzzles and memorize road maps. His IQ is reportedly 170. He taught himself calculus in one week, something that shocked his mother since she admits she flunked math as a child.
Barnett has Asperger's Syndrome, which some historians believe Einstein also had. He says he constantly sees numbers in his head and has trouble sleeping, but uses that time to get a snack and work on his calculations.
