Juventus forward Alessandro Del Piero has written an open letter to the club, the fans, his agent and doctor following his contract renewal at the Turin club, which has been published on the club's official website.
The 36-year-old had previously stated that he was unsure whether or not to sign a new playing deal, but agreed a one-year extension yesterday.""I waited a few hours to collect my thoughts before trying to express here, on this occasion that you have made me feel special,"" the hitman's letter started.
""Frankly it is not easy, because the feelings, emotions, and meaning of what happened yesterday are so many, now as 18 years ago.""
Del Piero is the Bianconeri's top all-time goalscorer with 283 goals, but he is looking to further this record.
""I
[feel] incredible passion, and this pushes me to move forward and set more ambitious personal goals,"" he stated.
The ex-Italy international was full of praise for the people who helped fashion the deal, and who have helped him in his career.
""Thanks in particular to Stephen
[Del Piero], who to me is the best agent in the world (and to think that it is not what
[he] does best: as a brother
[he] is even better!). Thanks to Dr Dario Tosetti, who for so many years I
[have] followed with competence, professionalism and passion,"" the frontman said.
Del Piero finished by thanking the fans, and looked forward to another season with the Old Lady.
""Thanks to all of you, I have no words ... With these 18 years we have lived in all colors. But always in black and white. It is not over yet. Alessandro.""
The Conegliano-born goalgetter should feature for the club in their fixture against Chievo on Monday night, with Juventus currently four points adrift of the Champions League places with three games remaining.
