TEHRAN -- Iranian musician Amir Purkhalaji plans to bring out his new album “Creation”, which was inspired by Persian poet Ferdowsi’s epic masterpiece Shahnameh, in early June.
The album, which was performed by Bulgaria’s Rousse Philharmonic Orchestra in 2011, will be released by Pardis Records in Tehran, Purkhalaji told the Persian service of MNA on Wednesday.
“The creation of the universe in the Shahnameh is based on the beliefs held by the Iranian people in ancient times,” he said.
“The album is in some way my perception of Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh,” he added.
“In comparison with other ancient and sacred texts, the Shahnameh provides a more realistic and intelligent view of the creation story. Ferdowsi frequently praises wisdom in the Shahnameh and makes many references to it in his book,” he stated.
Part of the album is based on the Battle of Twelve Faces between Iran and Turan, during which twelve top warriors from each army are pitted against each other.
