TEHRAN - The head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in a letter to Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif asked for swift action to free a number of Iranians held in prison in the U.S.

“A remarkable number of educated Iranian people have been arrested by various countries under pressure from the American intelligence agency for allegedly attempting to procure items banned under sanctions,” Alaeddin Boroujerdi wrote in his letter to Zarif.

Boroujerdi stated that sanctions are unfair and unjustified and the people have been arrested because of U.S. misuse of power, ICANA reported on Friday.

“Therefore, I would like to ask you to use all your power to free these Iranian youth that have been put in prison in America unjustly,” he stated.
