TEHRAN - On the occasion of 50th Defense Day of Pakistan on Sunday, Islamabad’s ambassador to Tehran remembered the courage of the people of Pakistan and its Armed forces.

Noor Muhammad Jadmani, making a speech in the crowd of some foreign gusts, defense attaches along with Iranian army officers, paid tribute to brave Pakistani men and women who lost their lives in the line of duty to preserve regional peace, security and stability of Pakistan.
Pointing to the beginning of Pakistan’s independence in 1947, Ambassador Jadmani said that armed forces of Pakistan are now a “formidable force to safeguard Pakistan’s national interests”, and counter threats to the country.
The cost of fighting terrorism and securing the country has been quite heavy for Pakistan, the diplomat said. “In the campaign against terrorism over 3,000 Pakistani soldiers (have) lost their lives.”
In addition to combating terrorism, the Pakistani diplomat said the armed forces have also played an important role in the “overall national relief efforts in Pakistan.”
At the international level, the diplomat noted, armed forces have also been serving in peacekeeping missions all over the world, adding that they have completed 41 peacekeeping missions in 23 countries and they are presently participating in another 7 missions for three years.
In the end, Ambassador Jadmani referred to the “cordial relations” between his country’s armed forces and friendly countries including Iran
Pakistan’s armed forces have kept a close cooperation with Iran, the diplomat added.
