Iran awards scripts on Prophet Muhammad (S)

TEHRAN -- Winners of the first screenplay competition on Prophet Muhammad (S), representing the pure thoughts of the Prophet in establishing peace and friendship, were honored during a ceremony at the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance on Tuesday.


Organized by the Iranian Young Cinema Society (IYCS), the jury selected the screenplays, which have best depicted the merciful image of Prophet Muhammad (S).

The award presentation ceremony was attended by Cinema Organization of Iran Director Hojjatollah Ayyubi, IYCS director Farid Fakhondeh-Kish and Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC) director Mohammad–Mehdi Tabatabainejad.

The first award was given to Mohammad-Sadeq Dehqani for his screenplay “Station”, and Maliheh Azizi-Monfared received the second award for the two screenplays “Several People” and “One Storey to God”.

Nazanin Farrokhlu also received the third award for the screenplay “Only God Has the Right to Wake Me Up”.

Jury member Ali-Akbar Qazinezam hoped that officials honor the awarded screenplays and help in their production.

Pointing to the film “Muhammad (S), the Messenger of God”, Ayyubi said that the film has been a blessing for the cinema of Iran. He said that the cinema of the country has been a huge help in introducing Islamic culture and civilization to the world.

Renowned Iranian director Majid Majidi’s latest film is about the childhood of the Prophet of Islam (S).

In addition, the family of martyrs Davud Asghari and Mostafa Farzamfar were honored at the ceremony. The two martyrs were IYSC members, who were the war veterans of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.
