TEHRAN – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for African and Arab Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has said that help being provided by the International Committee of the Red Cross for the crisis hit countries in the Middle East region is “insufficient”.

Some countries’ “miscalculations” and “inhuman” actions have exacerbated the regional crises, he said during a meeting with Regional Director for the Middle East at the International Committee of the Red Cross Robert Mardini in Tehran on Tuesday.

He also called on the international community to send humanitarian help to the Yemeni people.

Mardini elaborated on the ICRC’s latest actions in helping the Iraqi and Syrian people and described situation in Yemen as “worrisome”.

He said helping the Yemeni people is “difficult” due to issues related to security.

The ICRC official also thanked Iran for sending humanitarian aid to Syria and Iraq.

The ICRC makes efforts to deliver Iran’s help to the Yemeni people in spite of all the difficulties, Mardini said.
