Biography of Supreme Leader appears in Turkish

TEHRAN – “The Biography”, Hedayatollah Behbudi’s biography of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah, Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has recently been released in Turkish by Kowsar publications.
The book tells the life story of the Leader from the year of his birth in 1939 to 1979.
“The Biography” has been translated from Persian into Turkish by Ismail Bendery.


Anthology of Persian poetry published in Armenian

TEHRAN – An anthology of Persian poems by contemporary Persian literati has been published in Armenian.

The book entitled “The Diary of an Awaiting Man” contains 365 pieces compiled and translated into Armenian by Edik Boghosian,

Poems by Hossein Monzavi, Mohammadreza Shafiei Kadkani, Shams Langerudi, Bijan Jalali, Hossein Panahi and dozens of other poets were selected for the collection.

“The book can also be used as a fortunetelling book or a source that represents a particular poem for each day,” Boghosian told the Persian service ISNA on Tuesday.


Shahin Farhat composes symphony on Imam Khomeini

TEHRAN - The prolific Iranian composer Shahin Farhat has composed a symphony on Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Tuesday.

Farhat is the composer of over eighty symphonies, including “Iranian Lady”, “Damavand”, “Persian Gulf”, “Muhammad (S)”, “Martyrs” and “Iran”.


Chicago filmfest to screen “A Very Ordinary Citizen”

TEHRAN – Iranian filmmaker Majid Barzegar’s social drama “A Very Ordinary Citizen” will go on screen at the main competition section of the 51st Chicago International Film Festival, which will be held in the U.S. city from October 15 to 29.

The movie tells the story of Mr. Safari, an 80-year-old pensioner, who lives alone and wants to visit his son living abroad. The story reaches its climax when Mr. Safari becomes dangerously obsessed with a local female travel agent who is hired for help.


Iran reviewing 10 films to select candidate for 2016 Oscars

Tehran - A team of experts commissioned by the Farabi Cinema Foundation is currently reviewing a shortlist of 10 films to select Iran’s submission for the best foreign language film category at the Academy Awards in 2016.

The shortlist includes “Muhammad (S), the Messenger of God” by Majid Majidi, “What’s the Time in Your World” by Safi Yazdanian, “Crazy Castle” by Abolhassan Davudi, “13” by Hooman Seyyedi, “Track 143” by Narges Abyar and “Tales” by Rakhshan Bani-Etemad.

Shahram Mokri’s “Fish and Cat”, Nima Javidi’s “Melbourne”, Bahram Tavakkoli’s “I am Diego Maradona” and Farzad Motamen’s “Long Goodbye” are also in the lineup.
