TEHRAN – Representatives from 100 international companies are expected to attend Iran’s Theater Market opening in Tehran in May 2016.

“The theater market will be a big showcase where the potential of Iran’s theater will be introduced to the world’s theatrical companies,” director of the International Department of the Center for Dramatic Arts Mehrdad Rayani-Makhsus said in a press release on Monday.

“Private theaters can introduce their productions, performances and educational programs during the program,” he added.

“About thirty five plays have been selected by the private sector to be introduced to the foreign representatives. The plays will either be staged or will be offered in various forms such as reading performances, films, photos, or other diverse forms,” he said.

“The representatives will be acquainted with what is going on in the theater of Iran and this will be possible only through proper choice by the directors,” he noted.

He also added that the Center for Dramatic Arts would act as a bridge to connect directors with foreign companies, with the objective of strengthening international collaboration.

“We also want members of the private sector, who are involved in theatrical activities, to become more dynamic by introducing their productions to other countries,” he concluded.
