TEHRAN - The head of Iran’s Expediency Council has criticized U.S. presidency contender Doland Trump for his anti-Muslim remarks.

Trump’s statements are illogical and insane, Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said, adding that such comments are first and foremost detrimental to American officials, Rafsanjani’s website reported on Sunday.

Rafsanjani was referring to Trump’s recent saying that Muslims should not be allowed into the United States.

There are Christians in over 60 Islamic countries and the followers of all religions should live together in peace, the Iranian official asserted.

Polemical assertions are rooted in ignorant prejudice and it is a pity that in Islam, too, some extremist groups commit violent deeds, the likes of which can be seen in the acts of the Taliban, Daesh, Al-Qaida, Boko Haraam, etc., Rafsanjani stated.
