OPEC's Secretary General Abdullah Salem El Badri will visit Iran next month, Mehr News Agency reported on Wednesday.

El Badri will arrive in Iran upon the invitation of Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi, who chairs the OPEC presidency.

Leonid Bokhanovsky, secretary general of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), is also expected to arrive in Iran.

In January, Iran assumed the presidency of the OPEC for the first time in 36 years. The country's oil minister was elected as OPEC president at a one-day meeting of the group, which is made up of 12 oil producing states.

OPEC is an intergovernmental organization of twelve developing countries, including Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela.
