Tajikistan honors Iranian conductor Arash Amini

altTEHRAN -- Tajikistan’s Ministry of Culture bestowed the national highest honorary medal upon the renowned Iranian conductor and musician Arash Amini during a ceremony on Friday in Dushanbe. 

He was honored after a performance by the opera orchestra of Dushanbe which had been conducted by Amini as a guest conductor.

Amini has spent last week in Tajikistan holding intense rehearsal sessions for orchestra’s members to prepare them for the performances.

“Opera Avicenna” by Tajik composer Aria Michiel Borstlap, Georges Bizet Overture from ‘Carmen’, Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins and Orchestra and “Bachianas Brasileiras” by Heitor Villa-Lobos were some of pieces performed by the orchestra.

Other pieces were two movements from Iranian musician Heshmat Sanjari’s composition Persian Picture and “Oh, My Land” composed by Tajik musician T. Sattarov.

Their performance, which was accompanied by a chorus, was given a warm reception by the audience.

Amini is the head of the music section of section ECO Cultural Institute (ECI) and the art manager of Iran’s Rudaki Symphony Orchestra.

The event was cosponsored by Tajikistan’s Ministry of Culture and the ECO Cultural Institute.
