TEHRAN -- A collection of Iranian illustrations depicting Italian cuisine is currently on display during a showcase at the Florence Taste 2012, an Italian fair dedicated to foods from different countries.
The collection has been created by 23 Iranian artists
and Italian art expert Felicetta Ferraro is the curator of the exhibit entitled “Matite in brodo” (Pencils in Broth).
The collection contains 30 illustrations selected from the book “Cento Sapori Italiani, Cento Illustrazioni Iraniane” (One Hundred Italian Flavors, One Hundred Iranian Illustrations).
The book is the result of a workshop on the theme of food coordinated by Ali Buzari and Alessandra Cimatoribus held by the Italian Embassy in Tehran in 2008. The book contains approaches by Iranian illustrators toward Italian cuisines.
“The cuisine of each country is rooted in its tradition and customs. The ingredients of the food highlight not only the taste, but also the raw materials available, skills, knowledge and their way of being handed down and interpreted,” the organizers announced in the website of the fair.
The illustrations have been created by Banafsheh Ahmadzadeh, Ali Ataii, Neda Azimi, Ali Buzari, Atieh Bozorgsohrabi, Negin Ehtesabian, Golriz Gorgani, Hoda Haddadi and several other artists.
