TEHRAN –Netherlands-born American writer Kathryn Erskine’s “Mockingbird” has recently been released in Persian by Ofoq Publications.

An author of young adults’ books, Erskine was presented with the U.S. National Book Award for Young People’s Literature in 2010.

The book translated into Persian by Keyvan Abidi Ashtiani recounts the story of Caitlin Smith who has Asperger syndrome and is preoccupied with drawing and dictionaries. The world according to her is black and white; anything in between is confusing.

When things became confusing a couple of days before, Caitlin went to her older brother, Devon, for help. But Devon was killed in a school shooting, and Caitlin's father is so distraught that he is completely incapable of helping.
