Art enthusiasts impressed by “Silence” at Tehran gallery
TEHRAN – “Silence”, the latest collection by painter Behnush Forutan, was warmly received by art lovers on the opening day of her exhibition at Tehran’s Shokuh Gallery on Friday.
Art expert Alireza Sami-Azar who is also the director of the Tehran Auction, Farabi Cinema Foundation Managing Director Alireza Tabesh, Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Ali Moradkhani, and artists Gholamreza Nami and Ataollah Zinuri were among visitors on the opening day of the showcase.
“Silence means a type of active silence in this exhibit, that is, a silence that is not actually a sign of satisfaction. It actually conveys the meaning of a scream. This exhibit proposes that visitors choose meaningful silence rather than screaming. I believe sometimes silence is the best solution,” the artist said in a press release published on Sunday.
Moradkhani, who was also visiting the exhibit, said that he has followed the exhibits of Forutan, adding, “The artist has chosen a new approach in this new collection and has combined nature with the abstract.”
Artist Bahman Niku also praised new works by Forutan and said, “If an artist feels she/he can see something different from others, she/he needs to convey this difference to the visitors, and Ms. Forutan has beautifully portrayed this difference.”
Zinuri also believes that Forutan has displayed a selection of beautiful and unique paintings in her exhibit.
A selection of 12 paintings has been put on display at the exhibit running until November 15. Ten of the paintings were sold on the opening day.
The gallery is located at 19 Amir Nuri Alley, North Salimi St. near Andarzgu Blvd.
