TEHRAN – President Joko Widodo said on Friday that Indonesia is determined to expand ties with Iran in various areas.

“Close cooperation with Iran is the Indonesian government’s will,” he said during a meeting in Jakarta with Mahmoud Vaezi, the Iranian communications and information technology minister.

Widodo also highlighted the importance of cooperation among Islamic countries in countering terrorism.

For his part, Vaezi said terrorist acts are aimed at ruining the image of Islam.
