TEHRAN – Islamic Radios and Televisions Union (IRTVU) Secretary General Ali Karimian has said that Islamic media are now being noticed in the world.

He made the remarks during the closing session of the 9th General Assembly of the Islamic Radios and Televisions Union in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad on Tuesday.

“The union turned 10 by organizing this meeting,” he said and added, “Twelve years ago, there was no safe satellite channel, but today, there are dozens of satellite channels that families can watch without any concern; this service is to the Islamic world and such progress is really appreciable.”

He said that the Islamic world is no longer the user of media productions from other countries.

“The other nations also listen to them now,” he noted.

The ceremony came to end with the honoring of some productions from IRTVU member states.

Representatives of numerous TV and radio channels attended the meeting that opened last Saturday in Mashhad, the Capital of Islamic Culture for 2017.
