TEHRAN – The representatives of international press media in Iran and several foreign guests attending the 23rd Press Exhibition in Tehran visited the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art on Thursday.

The visit was organized by the Persian art news website Honaronline and the guests had a chance to visit an exhibition by British sculptor Tony Cragg underway at the museum.

They also had an opportunity to look at a number of artworks preserved in the treasure trove of the museum.

In a brief speech, Honaronline Managing Director Mehdi Afzali said that the number of artists living in Tehran is equal to the total number of artists elsewhere in the Middle East.

He also noted that there are a great number of female artists living in Iran as compared to the number in Europe. However, he regretted that the world media do not disseminate the achievements of the Iranian society.

“Art is the messenger of peace and friendship among the nations and the art news media can play a key role in this regard, they can cover these events and show a more beautiful world to the people,” he said.

The representatives were coming from different international agencies, including NBC, Euronews, Los Angeles Times, Al Sharq, and Xinhua.
