PRAGUE Anti-capitalism protesters hurled stones and Molotov cocktails at police guarding the annual meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund on Tuesday as a week of muted demonstrations turned ugly.
Eyewitnesses said protesters had thrown home-made petrol bombs at police guarding barricades some 300 meters (yards) from the conference center.
Several policemen were set alight and colleagues used water cannons to extinguish the flames. Czech officials said several dozen people had been hurt.
