Goods smuggling by couriers to undergo changes
December 18, 2017 - 9:57
TEHRAN – Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli announced on Sunday that the government has approved a motion which puts more restrictions on smuggling goods in western borders.
Border couriers, known as Kulbaran, illegally import goods from Iraq’s Kurdistan Region into the country, traveling a dangerous route across Iraq-Iran border. In recent years, Iranian guards have been lenient in dealing with the issue for human rights concerns.
Rahmani Fazli said since Kulbaran face many difficulties including low wages, the government plans to register them so that they can import goods legally.
