TEHRAN – Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee has dismissed the notion of direct talks between Tehran and Washington, saying the U.S. has become “discredited” even among its allies.

“The U.S. has lost credibility among its allies and is known as a hated and law-breaker administration in the international arena,” Alaeddin Boroujerdi was quoted by Tasnim as saying on Saturday.

“The U.S. has never been in such terrible conditions in the international arena and in such isolation,” he added.

It came after a number of Iranian political activists urged officials in Tehran and Washington to hold direct negotiations without preconditions.
