Smuggled relics seized in northern Iran

TEHRAN – Iranian authorities have recently confiscated several historical relics from smugglers in the northern city of Behshahr, Mazandaran province.

Nine pieces of potteries and earthenware were recovered in two operations following reports obtained from cultural heritage advocates, ISNA reported on Tuesday.

Experts from the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization have estimated the relics date back to the 1st millennium BC.
