TEHRAN – Tens of international tourists on October 30 spectated Arbaeen rituals in Iran’s central Yazd province.

A total of 179 foreign nationals witnessed mourning ceremonies in several mosques and Hosseiniehs, said Seyyed Mostafa Fatemi, the provincial tourism chief, ISNA reported.

Tourists from France, Germany, Austria, Italy, the Netherlands, China, Spain, Lithuania, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea and the Czech Republic witnessed the rituals, he added.

Arbaeen marks an end to the 40-day mourning period following martyrdom of the Imam Hussein (AS) and his loyal companions at the Battle of Karbala on Muharram 10 in the year 61 AH (680 CE).
