Tehran hosts tazieh performances

TEHRAN – Two troupes are giving performances of tazieh (Iranian passion play) in Tehran.

A group from the Kahrobaye Tazieh Center is performing at the Iranian Artists Forum. Majid Khosroabadi is the director of the troupe.

Alaeddin Qasemi, a veteran director of tezieh, is staging performances in the courtyard of the City Theater Complex.

The performances will continue until Wednesday.

Tazieh, which recounts religious events, historical and mythical stories and folk tales, was registered on UNESCO’s List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in November 2010.
