TEHRAN- Hassan Montazer Torbati was appointed as the new managing director of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), IRNA reported.

In a decree on Sunday, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh appointed Montazer Torbati to the post, replacing Hamidreza Araqi.

Montazer Torbati was previously the managing director of Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company.

Due to the implementation of the law banning employment of the retired officials, passed in mid-September by the Majlis, Araqi announced his resignation to the oil minister.

Prohibition of the employment of retirees is part of the plan to employ the younger generation in top state jobs.
