IFCPF pleased with the Asia-Oceania Championship: Sam Turner

TEHRAN - The International Federation for Cerebral Palsy Football (IFCPF) secretary general Sam Turner lauded the Islamic Republic of Iran Sports Federation for the Disabled who worked tirelessly to make IFCPF Asia-Oceania Championship a great success.
Iran finished in first place with four wins, followed by Australia, Jordan, Thailand and South Korea.
The six-day competition held in Kish Island in Persian Gulf.
“As the International Federation of CP Football, IFCPF is delighted to see an increase in the number of teams competing in this regional championships to five countries. However, we believe there are so many more countries, communities and individuals yet to be inspired and touched by CP Football,” Turner said in the closing ceremony.
“We are pleased to have the participation of our hosts and silver medalists Iran, along with the experienced teams from South Korea and Australia. We applaud Jordan and Thailand, who have both progressed to compete regional championships for the first time. We have seen 10 matches, 75 goals, and many great team and individual performances.
“Our players continue to push the boundaries of what is possible and showcase why we are a globally respected sport. I congratulate all five teams for their international participation, leading the way for all countries in the Asian region,” he added.
“My further congratulations to both Iran and Australia who have qualified in this tournament for the 2019 IFCPF World Cup in Seville, Spain. We wish you the best. Thank you to our IFCPF representatives, and the l.R. Iran Sports Federation for the Disabled who have worked tirelessly to make this event a great success.
“The LOC (Local Organizing Committee) has shown great hospitality and friendship; we sincerely appreciate your commitment and passion, and hope to continue working in partnership in the future.
“Football is the universal language which connects us all and brings together all members of the CP Football family. Together we shall overcome our challenges and achieve our full potential through the beautiful sport of CP Football,” Turner concluded.
