TEHRAN – Iranian composer Saeid Khavarnejad and the renowned Azerbaijani musician and vocalist Alim Qasimov have joined together to make an album based on the Haft Paykar, a magnum opus of the Persian poet Nezami Ganjavi (c. 1141-1209 CE).

Lyrics on the album “Haft Paykar” will be sung in Persian, Azerbaijani and French, Khavarnejad said in Tehran on Sunday during a press conference, which was attended by Qasimov and Iranian vocalist Shoeib Shahabi who will perform the French and Persian songs.

Speaking at the meeting Qasimov said that Nezami belongs to humanity and expressed his happiness over working with the Iranian musicians.

Nezami is considered the greatest romantic epic poet in Persian literature who brought a colloquial and realistic style to the Persian epic.

Nezami’s reputation rests on his Khamseh, a copy of which was inscribed on UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register list in May 2011.
