TEHRAN – In his new novel for young adults Mohammadreza Yusefi relates a romantic story that unfolds in 1940s Iran in the heat of the Soviet invasion of Iran.  

“When History Is Suffering from Alzheimer’s” is composed of 21 chapters with different narrators who recount stories about those Iranian Azarbaijanis whose lives underwent various changes in the wake of the Soviet invasion of Iran, the Institute for Intellectual 
Development of Children and Young Adults, the publisher of the novel, reported in a press release on Saturday.

The book also carries a collection of Azarbaijani love songs with Persian translations.

Yusefi is the author of dozens book for children and young adults, including “The Little Star” “Razaneh, the Daughter of Wheat” and “A Girl from the Green Planet”, a number of which have been published in other languages.

He has also published rewrites for children and young adults of many stories from the Shahnameh, the masterpiece of Persian poet Ferdowsi.

Yusefi was nominated for the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2000.
