TEHRAN - Chief of the Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi has said that Iran plans to hold joint naval drills with friendly regional countries in the future.

“We will hold a naval drill with friendly countries in the region, especially with the Indian Ocean Rim Association member states,” he told the Mehr news agency in an interview published on Saturday.

He also said that the Iranian navy will unveil a new generation of hovercrafts next year, noting that the hovercrafts are being produced completely by Iranian experts.

Elsewhere, he predicted that the presence of hegemonic powers in the region will come to an end cut in the near future.
