Jannati Warns of U.S. Conspiracies to Overthrow Islamic Republic

TEHRAN The Secretary of the Guardian Council, Ahmad Jannati, warned on Friday "We should beware what the global arrogance intends to do with us." Addressing worshipers attending the Friday congregational prayers at Tehran University campus, he noted, "From the viewpoint of the global arrogance and the U.S. Iran is a Turkish deligh'.
But the U.S. is mistaken, Iran differs from the (former) Soviet Union." Tehran's substitute Friday prayer leader, referring to the statements of the Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, further elaborated on how the U.S. masterminded the collapse of the Soviet Union.
"There are some people in the country that if gun powder is exploded in their own hands they take it for nigella seeds.
We have nothing to do with them. If we present evidence to such people they first deny their wrongdoing and later on exonerate themselves," he said.
Jannati then touched on the U.S.-backed coup d'etat in 1953 which overthrew the then government in Iran and brought the Pahlavi regime back to power.
"Under the leadership of Ayatollah (Mahmoud) Kashani, the people managed to launch an uprising and undermined Britain." he said, adding, "They were getting ready to materialize independence in the country but the ignorance of a man who had become a tool in the hands of the enemies squandered everything." Jannati then referred to the opening of the Assembly of Experts in 1980 upon an order of the late Founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini.
He called on the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) and other publicity apparatuses to analyze a letter by Imam Khomeini to the assembly, saying everything is elucidated in detail in the letter.
"The Majlis (Parliament) deputies do not enjoy unlimited authority to do whatever they like," he said, adding, "In case they present an anti-Islamic bill they would no more have the right of deputyship of people." Jannati asserted that the enemies, hypocrites (the terrorist MKO) and the members of Iran's Freedom Movement are afraid of the experts.
The cleric further came out in support of the remarks made by the Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei while addressing the Iranian diplomats abroad and termed them as being highly indicative and directive.
Ayatollah Khamenei last Tuesday lashed out at the United States, saying "the U.S. government lacks political, moral and ideological competence to lead the world through establishment of a uni-polar system." The Leader noted that many European states and Americans themselves "accept this reality." "As regards universal issues, there is no common point between us and the U.S... the main objective of the U.S. in proposing dialog is to prepare the ground for imposing its stances and materialize the wishes of the U.S. government," the Leader said.
