TEHRAN A report from Ankara said yesterday that France will build a satellite for Turkey that will be used for spying on regional countries, particularly the Islamic Republic of Iran.
"I'm sure Israel will also use this satellite for its own benefit," said an expert in Turkish and Israel affairs.
Turkey put the plan for building a spy satellite on international tender and a French company succeeded in receiving the contract.
A Turkish daily, yesterday said the Turkish Defense Ministry and French company signed an agreement for building the satellite two days ago. The satellite will cover all countries around Turkey, the newspaper said.
The French company will build the satellite for which it will receive millions of dollars. Earlier a company of the Zionist regime announced that it would have its share in building the satellite.
Observers in the region voiced their anger against the Turkish government, saying, "Growing relations between Turkey and the Zionist regime are a matter of great concern to regional countries." The Turkish generals should honor the religious feelings of the people of that country and keep a distance from the Zionist entity that is a sworn enemy of Muslims.
High-level exchange of visits between Turkey and the Zionist regime and military cooperation agreements between Tel Aviv and Ankara are not good for Turkey either.
