ROME AS Roma's new Brazilian signing Emerson will be sidelined for six months after tearing cruciate ligaments in his left knee, Italian media reported on Saturday.
Emerson, who joined the Serie A side from Bayer Leverkusen last month for a Bundesliga record 36 billion lire ($16.88 million), fell awkwardly during a training session in Rome on Friday.
He faced an operation over the weekend, Gazzetta dello Sport said.
No one at Roma was immediately available for comment.
