TEHRAN – Iran’s Camping and Caravanning Club plans to hold an open-air exhibition of camper vans at Tehran’s Milad Tower to mark Eid al-Fitr, the end of the fasting month of Ramadan, ISNA reported on Monday.

Some 200 camper vans and caravans are scheduled to be showcased in the exhibit, which will be held on April 22 and 23, according to the Touring & Automobile Club of the Islamic Republic of Iran (TACI).

In addition to developing car racing activities in the country, the introduction of these types of vehicles as a part of the tourism infrastructure and capacity and promoting responsible and safe travel are among the most significant objectives of the event.

The Touring & Automobile Club of the Islamic Republic of Iran is an institution affiliated with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts. Its tasks include facilitating the travel of owners of vehicles abroad or foreign tourists who are traveling to Iran in their own vehicles. The institution also helps develop tourism by establishing tourism information offices at home and abroad, as well as developing infrastructures and tourism services.

Dominating the skyline of Tehran’s western suburbs, Milad Tower is 435m high, including 120m of the antenna, making it, in 2017, the world’s sixth-tallest free-standing tower.

Bearing a striking resemblance to Menara Kuala Lumpur, its octagonal concrete shaft tapers up to a pod with 12 floors, including both enclosed and open observation decks, a gallery, a cafe and a revolving restaurant.
