TEHRAN- Hojjat al-Islam Seyyed Isa Tabatabaei, the representative of Imam Khomeini (RA) and Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Lebanon was honored on Friday at the 8th International Meeting of Mujahideen Abroad.

The meeting was held on September 15 in the city of Damghan, Semnan province. 

Isa Tabatabaei is one of the important figures in supporting Shiites and fighting poverty in Lebanon.

The cleric was honored and his stamp and biography were unveiled as well. 

Prominent political and military figures as well as representatives of the resistance groups attended the ceremony. Among those participating were Sheikh Abdullah al-Daqqaq, representative of Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim who is the leader of the Bahraini Shiites in Iran; Ibrahim Mohammad Deilami, Yemen's ambassador to Iran; Brigadier General Kioumars Heydari, commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Force; Dr. Ghazizadeh Hashemi, the Iranian vice president for the disabled war veterans and martyrs’ families; the former IRGC chief Yahya Rahim Safavi who currently serves as top military advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, etc.

Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian was one of the prominent speakers of the meeting.

Amir Abdollahian called Isa Tabatabaei “a mujahid from Semnan and Damghan to Lebanon” who played a valuable role in promoting the resistance movements in Lebanon and Palestine.

The foreign minister also called Isa Tabatabaei an old friend of Imam Musa Sadr.

Isa Tabatabaei was born in Najaf, Iraq. He visited Iran as a teenager and continued his theological studies in Damghan and Qom seminaries. He visited Lebanon during the despotic reign of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. 

Addressing the meeting, the Hezbollah representative said, “Hojjat al-Islam Seyyed Isa Tabatabaei highlighted the pure Islamic views in Lebanon and transferred the jihadi spirit of the late Imam (Khomeini) to many of the youth in the country (Lebanon).”

Hojjat al-Islam Nazar called Isa Tabatabaei a “leading figure” who did great services for Lebanon and had a high influence on the resistance front.

The representative of Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim also praised Isa Tabatabaei for helping establish the Al Manar television network in support of Muslim nations. 

Elsewhere in his remarks, al-Daqqaq said the Islamic world, with the initiative of the leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has turned threats into opportunities.
