TEHRAN The second meeting of Iran-Ukraine Joint Commission started in Kiev Monday. The Minister of Industries Gholamreza Shafe'i headed the Iranian delegation to the two-day meeting.
In the meeting, the two sides discussed expansion of bilateral ties and signed documents on trade as well as a memorandum of understanding.
On the same day, Shafe'i met with the Ukrainian first Prime Minister Yuri Yekhanurov and expressed pleasure over the growing trend of trade exchanges between the two countries.
However, he said, still there are more room for promotion of such exchanges.
Referring to great potentials of the two countries, he expressed hope that by the political will of the Iranian and Ukrainian authorities the relations would further enhance in the near future.
Shafe'i also called for more facilities to be provided by Ukrainian officials for marketing of Iranian goods in Ukraine and also striking a trade balance in exchanges.
The Ukrainian side for his part referred to such fields for mutual cooperation as energy, industry, technology, training, science, transportation, environment, agriculture, construction and geology.
He stressed the necessity to promote the two countries' banking cooperation to pave the ground for further trade exchanges.
The Iranian delegation comprises officials from ministries of industries, foreign affairs, post, telephone and telegraph, housing, oil and commerce as well as representatives from the Standard Institute, Iran's Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) and Bank Refah Kargaran.
The first Iran-Ukraine commission meeting was held in Tehran in 1996.
