* Commemoration ceremony for Hakim Omar Khayyam was held in Karachi, Pakistan in the presence of some 250 scientific, cultural, and literary figures. Some four speeches about the scientific and literary characteristics of Khayyam were delivered in this ceremony.
* Some 100 Iranian calligraphy works were displayed in an exhibition at Lahore Great Museum.
Remarkable works by Dr. Mohammad Salahshour and master Javaherpour were highly welcomed by the audience in this exhibition.
* Due to the high welcome of people, the play Romeo and Juliet directed by Dr. Ali Rafiei and casting Mahdi Fat'hi, Mohammadreza Foroutan, Setareh Eskandari, Shabnam Tolouei and several other famous artists will remain on the stage till September 8.
* Seven Iranian films were screened in an international film festival in south India. Some 48 films from different countries took part in this week-long festival.
* Three Iranian children and young adults won the prizes of a painting competition held by Le-No-Hikari Association in Japan. Sahar Rezvani 11, Ayda Badakhshani 6, and Mohammad-Baqer Ghazali 11 could respectively win golden, silver and bronze prizes of the competition.
Some 53 paintings were sent by the Center for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults to the festival.
* The Islamic Republic of Iran has participated in 19th International Book Fair in Malaysia.
A large number of books about culture, art, literature, Iranology, religion and children as well as CDs about Qoranic sciences and music have been put on display in this exhibition. Some 92 foreign and 72 domestic publishers, presenting 90,000 title of books have taken part in this fair.
* The film A Time for Exhilaration of Horses by the young Iranian director Bahman Qobadi is to be screened in France's cinemas in September 13. It will be also screened in a number of big cinemas in the United States.
* Week of Youth Cinematic Films was inaugurated in the city of Abadeh in the presence of Khosro Sinaei, Behrouz Afkhami, Mehrdad Oskouei and Qassem Qolipour on August 22. The week was organized by Iran's Association of Youth Cinema.
* Film Center of Khaneh Cinema screened three works of renowned director Alfred Hitchcock. After screening of films, film review meetings were held in the presence of cinema experts.
