TOKYO Unseeded Yong Kock Kin upset Olympic gold medalist Poul-Erik Hoyer-Larsen 15-12, 15-12 Thursday and advanced to the fourth round of the men's singles at the $200,000 Yonex Japan Open Badminton Championships. ``I'm more than happy to score my first victory against the Olympic champion,'' said the 23-year-old shuttler from Malaysia. ``He beat me twice last year.'' Hoyer-Larsen, ranked fourth in the world, said he made many easy errors and mistakes, especially with his backhands.

``Somehow, I wasn't so confident and I just couldn't play my game.'' Yong, ranked 19th in the world, has yet to win any international championship. (AP)
