Six Killed, 25 Wounded in Jailbreak in Southern Iran

SHIRAZ, Fars Province -- Six drug traffickers were killed and 25 others wounded Wednesday in this southern Iranian city as riot broke out among inmates in a jail for drug convicts, provincial prisons chief said Thursday.
"Several drug traffickers who attempted to escape from Shahid Lajevardi Camp in the Pirbanov region in the suburb of Shiraz fell foul with police officers," Muslim Dehqani told IRNA.
The riot continued up to near midnight before it was quelled.
Those injured were immediately taken to hospitals in Shiraz.
Details of the damages have not yet been made available.
