TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Abbas Araghchi and his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty held a telephone conversation on Wednesday on the latest developments in the region as Iran and the United States are set to resume nuclear talks after six months.

The Iranian foreign minister thanked the “constructive and coordinated” efforts by regional countries to reduce tension in the West Asia region. Araghchi also lauded the diplomatic initiatives by Egypt to resolve the nuclear dispute between Iran and Egypt.

The Egyptian foreign minister said his country strongly backs efforts for protecting peace in the region. He also insisted that Egypt supports any diplomatic solution to settle nuclear dispute between Tehran and Washington.

The two foreign ministers also insisted on the need for coordination among regional countries.

Regional countries, including Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, have started intensive diplomatic efforts to prevent a possible war between Iran and the United States as the American navy has deployed Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and guided-missile destroyers in the waters near Iran.
